Hello, from Paula, KE5DDZ.  I've had this site up for over two years, and I have now passed the 1000 visitor mark!  Thanks for all the visits!
I have ventured into WordPress.  My WordPress blog is called "Paula's Butterfly Mind."  I still have the blog spot version up, but I have copied it over to my WordPress and I do all my new blogging on the WordPress blog.  Now, if I can just keep things current!

~~ Summary for the year:  It's been crazy!  January of 2007, the company I worked for 5+ years was sold and I had new bosses!  I worked hard to assist them with all the transition issues.  But a lot of changes were made over the last year and business dropped off.  By November 30th, 2007... things became very tight.  I was laid-off after 6+ years.
As of late April (2008), I have landed a job with a company called ComForce Technical.  It's a staffing agency for the likes of Sandia Nat'l Labs, Los Alamos Nat'l Labs, APS and several other companies.  They have placed me at PNM.  It may or may not become a permanent placement.  We shall see.  I'm learning the ropes in the department I'm working.  I'm enjoying it.
~My mom is serving a term as the Secretary for the Amateur Radio Caravan Club again.  We had been without a website for a while, but I'm happy to announce we have a new one.  Please visit the above link!  In April, I was nominated and elected Secretary of the Albuquerque Amateur Radio Club.  We were in danger of losing the club unless we found a full slate of officers... which we had been without for too many months.

~My Flickr page will probably have some new photos soon... as I received a new camera for Christmas... It's an Olympus Evolt, E-410, digital SLR.  It's been a fun learning curve as I learn the new features!  In my blog, I wrote about the WOW of opening that gift. A complete surprise!!!   I frequently have at least one or two recent things on my blog.  Check the "Blogs" section for my link to my Duke City Fix, & my blog (in case you missed it the other times I mentioned it here).

As for the OLD web-sites-o-mine...
In the past, I had built my small web pages in raw HTML . . .  that is, I didn't use a pre-packaged program to build it . . . There really was no such thing at that time!  So I chose to learn enough HTML code (Hyper Text Markup Language) on my own to write the code for my pages.  The pages were no big deal . . .  just a very basic page or two.  I even tried my hand at writing a couple of more complicated (by MY standards) forms-type pages for a survey I needed to conduct for one of my graduate courses.   Within a couple of years, the HTML-generating programs began to come onto the market, but  I felt they had too much extraneous garbage in them to make clean, neat, easy to de-bug, code.  I was a stubborn hold-out, still insisting on struggling through in raw HTML as much as I could.  I wanted to keep the flexibility!  But time stands still for no one!  And, the pre-packaged code producing software became better about losing the extraneous (in my opinion) code.  I also learned how to omit some of that & insert what I wanted.

A year ago, I was new to FrontPage.  I've had to learn some of it's quirks and work with (or around) them.  It's been mostly good.  It has been less time consuming than the raw HTML method.  Soon, I look forward to (really?) learning XML (a newer kind of "mark-up language" that is supposed to be the latest and greatest thing Wahoo!).

So let me know what you'd like to see on my new web site.  Hey . . .  keep it clean!  Feel free to send me an e-mail.
